I feel a bit like Sam Cooke crooning, with the announcement of Our Alabama Roots going live – it’s been a long time coming!:-)
I’ve talked about moving my Alabama research {Surnames: BARWICK, MCKENZIE, ROSS, MARTIN, WASHINGTON & MCRAE} ahead for several years, but it seems life just kept getting in the way!
But like George Geder, I too believe that we are guided by the Ancestors, so when they “nudged” me to get their online home up, I quickly obliged!:-)
The Barwicks of Alabama {by way of Cincinnati, Ohio} are my Mother’s, Father’s – William Charles BARWICK, family line.
Pictured above are my Paternal Great Great Grandparents, James {b. 1860} & Laura ROSS BARWICK {b.1858}.
The gene-trail looks like this – Luckie > Geraldine BARWICK > Willie C. BARWICK > Raymond BARWICK > James & Laura BARWICK.
The Barwick clan is known for living long… both my Great Grandmother, Lena MCKENZIE BARWICK & my Great Great Grandmother, Ella MARTIN MCKENZIE, lived to be over 100 years old!
I have two Great Aunts, Lena & Hannah still going strong! Both are in their early 90s, with keen memories that I need to take advantage of! I am definitely feeling it’s time for a Cincinnati road-trip to enjoy my much-loved White Castle hamburger & some much needed family bonding {and picture scanning}!
So stay tuned friends, there is MUCH more to the Barwick story to tell!:-)
Lest we forget…
Luckie.
